Located in the Vietnamese capital of Hanoi, Noi Bai International Airport was straining to meet traveler demand. In response, the government of Vietnam financed a process in 2009 that covered everything from the design of a new passenger terminal building and parking facilities to the selection of a construction contractor. For the construction work, the government decided to use official development assistance from Japan.
JAC received a consulting contract for the project from Northern Airports Corporation (currently the Airports Corporation of Vietnam), and carried out a feasibility study, performed design work for the new terminal building and provided bidding assistance. JAC was again contracted for management services for the construction of the new passenger terminal building which was carried out as the Japan official development assistance project. When the first contract expired in December 2014, JAC continued to provide services under a new contract that began in January 2015.
